The City Of Monsters & the Lion
Concept & Character Study

Description & Abstract
The City of Monsters & the Lion (La Città di Monstri e del Leone) is a Pre-production concept that reflect art and time through the city of Tuscania and a Winged Lion whose eyes have been closed for centuries in a short, animated narrative.
This Project will raise the question of what would happen if the Etruscans were still spiritually with their tombs? Adapting mythological symbolism into a preproduction animation concept following a young girl who is visiting an old town on a field trip and a lion who lost his guardianship capabilities and as time passed, the souls he was supposed to guard became corrupted. This study will argue that such mythic imagery can enrich an animated narrative dealing with identity, memory, and belonging. This project will propose an original story with various concepts and a final storyboard and test animation that will reimagine the mythical landscape the Etruscans once walked on.
Story in One Sentence

-
Lead Art Director
-
Concept and Character Artist

Work Being Showcased
Early concepts of the project are being showcased at FGCU's Art Complex during the Fall of 2025.

The Scuttlebar
Concept & Character Study

A Short Project Summary
This project investigates creature design through anatomy and visual development. The goal is to create designs that feel believable to a creature’s anatomy and habitat, showcasing the process from start to finish of a model ready for the big screen or video game.
Both 2D illustrations and 3D models/animations will showcase a creature design timeline from beginning sketches to a final product.
This project being my senior final at FGCU, started back in December of 2025 where I wanted to originally create only the artwork for multiple creatures. This changed into what I have today with the help of my mentors and professors here at FGCU. The biggest challenges I seemed to run into was how much time a model truly takes to be completed and animated. You start with your basics which is concepts, artwork, anatomy, but then shift to the actual modeling itself which was surprisingly the easy part. The worst of it was understanding UV’s, Retopology, Rigging, How can you lower the poly count on the model so its actually usable to industry standard.
Character Description
The Scuttlebar is a Chimeric creature. Being mixed between a Mustang and a Rainbow Stag Beetle. They are primarily Solitary, known for their brutal battles between each other for land. Primarily found in forests, Their armor is iridescent when in light, making them almost completely disappear in dense greenery.
